Ministry to Ethnic Groups in Houston

The nations have come to Houston.  Much of the multi-housing community near our church is filled with refugees from Burma, Sudan, Iraq, and other places.  We will equip Sugar Creek members in Bible storying, discipleship methods, and effective evangelistic approaches to these people groups.  We partner with missionaries that are reaching and discipling these various people.

Mission Explorer Weekend  -  November 2 – 4  -  Cost $75

Designed for the entire family or ABF group.  Stay at a retreat house to experience worship, devotion, and equipping in cross-cultural ministry.  Projects during the day will include ESL, VBS, International Festivals, and more at the multi-housing area where a variety of ethnic groups live.  Contact:  Don Waybright | dwaybright@sugarcreek.net

Urban CampUrban Camp

Sugar Creek has conducted a free, first class, Christian Camp for under-privileged and unchurched urban youth since 1992. There is now a four day camp for Middle School and High school students and a two day camp for children. The High School camp this year is on the campus of Sam Houston State University. Huddle Leaders are needed to invest in the lives of these kids during camp. Training for Huddle Leaders is provided. Challenge your ABF class to be a part of the Urban Camp Experience this year. We will minister to over 400 kids this year!

Women’s Pregnancy Center

Women's Pregnancy CenterWomen’s Pregnancy Center has been here to help those who experience an unplanned pregnancy since 1986. Free pregnancy tests, pregnancy information, limited ultrasounds and community referrals are among the services available as well as educational classes and extended assistance for those who enroll in Life Directions.

Lead 222 – Houston Youth projects

Lead 222
Over 300 youth from around the country come on campus along with the Sugar Creek LYF Ministry to experience an intense week of spiritual leadership development connected with hands-on mission projects. Teams of 20-25  spend three days throughout Houston participating in hands-on projects such as food outreaches, building renovations, block parties, evangelistic outreaches, Hurricane Ike Recovery projects, and more.

Nehemiah Tour

Come join us for our next Nehemiah Tour. This is an opportunity for us to gain an understanding of our neighbors. Nehemiah prayed for the city and then he toured the city to see the needs. We are following that example of praying and seeing the needs of our city. During the tour we go to a Mosque, Hindu Temple, Buddhist Temple, and to the Hong Kong Mall.

Japan Disaster Relief

You can help with the Japan Earthquake Disaster Relief Effort. Pray, Give , and GO are the dynamic actions we can offer during this disaster. Sugar Creek and the Southern Baptist Global Response Team are partnering to help assessment teams already in the field working directly with the missionaries and the national church.
